Paranoïa agent / 妄想代理人

Paranoïa Agent (妄想代理人) is an anime series directed by Satoshi Kon released in 2004, which deals with society, work and stress. It follows a few characters under the menace of overwork who are all attacked by Shonen Batta at some point, a boy with golden roller skates and a baseball bat.

The opening represents these characters laughing in an uneasy and mechanical way while looking at the viewer, in various, mostly urban, locations. However, the ending shows these same characters asleep in grass all around a big Maro-mi plush, a sort of hybrid between Hello Kitty and a dog.

At the time I did this, I was studying composition at the conservatoire of Marseille, and I was attempting the exam to enter the composition for screen class, and that was one of the pieces I presented to the exam, and one of my first works for screen. In addition, I rewrote this without hearing the original version, so I was shocked when I took a listen to the original later (listen to it yourself to figure out why :]).
