Update : a lot of water has gone under the bridge.
Let me explain.

The contest allowed me to meet so many people and a few composition projects (i’ll be explaining that on this website, stay connected to NUAGEALIEN.FR). But I, who truly believed that i was done with La Terre vue du Ciel, was far from suspecting that this piece still had a bright future ahead of it.

It all starts with Cristian. He plays trombone like no one, in the same class as me in the conservatoire. He is from Venezuela and he loves La Terre vue du Ciel. So he asked me to arrange my piece for solo and trombone ensemble so he could bring it home, and play it with his friends in the great city of Maracaibo. So, I’ve put myself to work, it took me one whole night but this was a pleasure and this arrangement is dedicated to him. ❤

Then comes Philippe Spannagel, professor of the trombone class of the Colmar regional conservatoire. He was there for the final, as he was accompanying some of his students (3 of them actually made it to the final!!). Mr Spannagel was very enthusiastic to the idea of playing La Terre vue du Ciel again, but this time with his whole trombone class, so he asked me to give him the scores, which I did.

A few messages later, he sends me the following message :

“Good evening Angelin.
I have received all the parts, thank you very much! What a great work! It is with great pleasure that we will perform your piece in February with Fabrice Millischer as soloist. I will not fail to give you news.
Sincerely yours, Philippe.”

My brain ceased to function. What did I just read.

If you don’t know who Fabrice Millischer is, well he’s one of the best trombonists in the world at the moment. He does a lot of concerts everywhere in the world, he plays like a beast, he represents the pinnacle of excellence in French class, but most of all he’s known for being the current professor at the national conservatoire of Paris.

I must say, the trip Aix-Maracaibo-Colmar was already unexpected (at least for a piece that is called The Earth viewed from the Sky) but what was going to happen that day was a baptism of fire.

So I went to Colmar to be able to hear that with my own two ears, in good company (my dad), and we both discovered that beautiful region that is Alsace, its dancing colors on the houses and this heartwarming ambiance which has nothing to envy our beloved Southern Region.

But the city doesn’t matter. We were here to elevate to the heights with music. And that version of La Terre vue du Ciel was stratospheric, thanks to the master hand of Philippe Spannagel, the excellence of Fabrice Millischer, and most of all the implication and the seriousness of the whole trombone class. I’m so thankful to each one of you.

Unfortunately, I need a signed authorization from everyone to actually let you hear anything from this day, but I can show you some pictures.

“i am a cringe in the middle of the based

“omg look!! colmar’s koïfhus, when my piece will be played! let’s get in, c’mon!”
